Another R&D Pack Promotion. Pick up your R&D mats needs this coming Thursday from….

…Uh…

…Waitaminute, what?

…Did it just say…. T6 Constitution??? T6 D7 Cruiser??? T6 T’Liss???

Alright, if this is legit, then this is huge news. STO players have been asking, begging, demanding, threatening, DYING for an end-game version of the Constitution class ever since the game started, and Cryptic has always said CBS won’t allow it. So did something change?

Let’s put that question aside for the moment, and look at how you can get one of these much, MUCH coveted ships.

From 8/25/16 at 9:30AM Pacific to 8/29/16 at 10AM Pacific, we will be running a promotion that will provide an additional bonus when opening a Research and Development Pack.

When you purchase a Research and Development Pack from the C-Store and open it, you will receive either 10 Lobi Crystals or Special Requisition Pack – 23rd Century Tier 6 Ship, in addition to the Research and Development Pack.

Opening this *Special Requisition Pack – 23rd Century Tier 6 Ship *will award one of 3 ships depending on the character’s faction:

  • Temporal Light Cruiser [T6] – Constitution Class (Starfleet Only)
  • D7 Temporal Battlecruiser [T6] (Klingons Only)
  • T’liss Temporal Warbird [T6] (Romulans Only)

Each of the above ships come with their 23rd Century iconic costume in addition to both free and paid ship costume unlocks:

The Temporal Light Cruiser has access to the Constitution Refit, Excalibur and Vesper costumes for free and it can use the Exeter’s costume if that starship is owned.

The D7 Temporal Battlecruiser has access to the K’t’inga and K’t’inga Refit costumes for free and it can use the Koro’t’inga’s costume if that starship is owned.

The T’liss Temporal Warbird has access to the T’varo costume for free and it can use the Malem’s costume if that starship is owned.

Note:_ Only newly purchased Research and Development packs will offer the chance to win the Special Requisition Pack – 23rd Century Tier 6 Ship during this promotional event. Packs purchased before or after the event will not offer bonus Lobi or the *Special Requisition Pack – 23rd Century Tier 6 Ship. *Packs purchased during the event, but opened after the event ends will still benefit from this promotion’s bonus rewards._

The promotion is only on for four days. Assuming the drop rate of one of these ships is the same as lockbox ships, then that means these guys are going to be three times rarer because R&D packs cost approximately three times that of a Master Key. This is a seriously expensive way to get these ships! If you go with the 4-pack bundles, each pack will still cost twice as much as a Master Key. Ouch.

This weekend is going to be crazy for STO players. O_O

  1. Wow. Interesting if true. Too expensive for me at any rate. I only have like 12 mil EC and I’m trying to save up for the Kelvin Timeline ships, which I’ve been wanting.

      2. I just checked last night and the KT Connie was like 400 million. Crazy. I’ve got a long way to go. The other night I sold a key (that I’d forgot that I had) on the exchange and got like 5.5 million from it, and some R&D materials. So that got me up to… like 17 million. Yay! Only 383 million left to go! haha…

        Seriously tho, I don’t know how people do it, how they reportedly make hundreds of millions of EC in mere days. What are they selling to make that kind of EC? I’m new to selling stuff on the exchange so I apologize for being so clueless.

      3. In terms of making millions of EC in a short time, I’ve heard two main ways:

        1. Selling Master Keys. LOTS of them. At 5-6 million EC apiece, you need 70-80 keys? That’s 8-10k Zen, definitely too expensive for a single ship. As lots of folks pointed out, best to wait for the Kelvin ships to be added to the Infinity Lockboxes, and the prices should come down. That doesn’t apply to the Vengeance though…

        2. Some people already swimming in EC make 15-20M EC on a daily basis by playing the market. But to be perfectly honest if I have the patience and risk tolerance to do something like this, I’d rather spend my time playing the REAL stock market to make REAL money, not some make-believe currency on a game.

  2. The dates in this are wrong dates they posted say 8/25/16 to 9/15/16. The promotion is for nearly a month not four days.

  3. Being a casual player, I didn’t really know the ship was a big deal until I opened a box on my second try and got one…then the PM’s started coming in with congrats and offers to buy it. One guy offered 720 million! I was searching online to see what the ship would look like if I opened it and came across your blog.

      The T6 Connie is a big deal because it’s the original Kirk Enterprise from the old TV show, and has been requested by STO players for years. It’s particularly important if you are a fan of the Original Series — admittedly I am not one of them (that show was before my time). If you are a fan then this is the ship of your dreams…. if not? Personally I would sell it on the Exchange then buy practically any other ship I want with the proceeds…. possibly multiple ships.

      You can probably get 750 million EC on the Exchange easy; that’s the last report that I heard. Demand is way higher than supply right now (as of last night I didn’t see any listed on the Exchange).

      1. Thanks! Knowing how event-related items always sell higher at the beginning of the event, I decided I would go ahead and sell it now. ESD was a bust, lots of low-balling counter offers. However, I tried “TheTradingChannel” and within 2 minutes of asking, I had someone buy it. We met on the bridge of my ship and the buyer unceremoniously dropped 950 million EC into the trade window – asking price.

        From what I was hearing at ESD, they were being sold on the exchange for 750, but were going so fast you rarely saw them. For the next week at least, you should be able to get between 800-900 million EC for one of these. Good luck everyone!

      3. Technically TOS was before my time too, tho it was my first exposure to Star Trek when I was a little kid watching re-runs of it in the ’70s.

        As much as I wouldn’t mind having the promo T6 TOS Connie, it’s not really essential to my STO gaming experience. Honestly if I were to score one from a promo R&D box, I’d probably sell it on the exchange so I could buy the Kelvin Timeline Connie and the Vengeance.
